New to Firearms? You’re Welcome Here.

You do not need to be an experienced shooter to take our CPL class.

For many students, a CPL course is their first opportunity to receive structured handgun instruction. We take firearm safety seriously while maintaining an environment where students can ask questions and learn without unnecessary pressure.

The objective isn’t simply to complete the course. We want you to leave with a better understanding of your firearm, how to handle it safely, and the responsibilities that come with carrying one.

NRA Certified Firearms Instruction

Your training is provided by an NRA Certified Firearms Instructor with an emphasis on safety, practical skills and responsible firearm ownership.

Students receive both classroom instruction and supervised practical training rather than simply being rushed through the minimum requirements.

Safety comes first — before speed, accuracy or anything else.

Hands-On Range Training

Knowledge in the classroom needs to translate into safe firearm handling on the range.

Students receive practical instruction covering the fundamentals of handgun operation and shooting. The live-fire portion gives students an opportunity to develop their skills under instructor supervision.

Depending upon the student’s experience level, instruction may include correcting common problems with grip, stance, sight picture and trigger control.

Indoor Winter Range

Michigan weather doesn’t stop training.

During the winter months, range training is conducted at an indoor shooting range, providing students with a comfortable environment regardless of snow, cold or other weather conditions.

Personal Protection in the Home

Our training also addresses the serious responsibilities associated with keeping a firearm for personal and home protection.

Topics include firearm accessibility versus secure storage, awareness, avoiding unnecessary confrontations, and making responsible decisions before an emergency occurs.

Owning a firearm is only one component of personal protection. Good judgment, preparation and awareness are just as important.

Firearm Safety

Safe firearm handling is the foundation of everything we teach.

Students learn the fundamental rules of firearm safety and how those principles apply both on the range and in everyday life.

Particular attention is given to:

Muzzle control • Trigger discipline • Knowing your target and surroundings • Safe loading and unloading • Secure storage • Safe transportation • Responsible handling

Developing safe habits through repetition helps ensure those practices become automatic.

Concealed Carry Is a Responsibility

Obtaining a CPL gives you additional options for protecting yourself, but carrying a firearm also comes with significant responsibilities.

A responsible CPL holder should understand not only how to use a firearm, but also when the use of a firearm would—and would not—be appropriate.

Our instruction emphasizes judgment, awareness, avoidance and de-escalation alongside firearm proficiency.

The best defensive encounter is often the one that never becomes a confrontation.

What Should I Bring?

Requirements can vary depending on the particular class and range being used. Students will be given specific instructions before class regarding firearms, ammunition, hearing and eye protection, identification and any other necessary equipment.

Do not purchase equipment specifically for the course until you have spoken with us. If you’re a new shooter, we can help you understand what you actually need.
